What is UGC NET?
UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) is an exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The aim of this is to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Colleges and universities.
When is it conducted?
This test is conducted twice a year, usually in the month of June and December. But this year CBSE will be conducting it on 10th July, 2016.
Where is it Conducted?
This test is conducted at 89 selected NET Examination Cities spread across the country.
In which subjects is this test conducted?
This test is conducted in 83 subjects of arts and humanities including languages, social sciences and law etc. There is a separate exam conducted for Science Students.
What are the eligibility criteria for it?
Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Masters Degree or equivalent examination from universities or intuitions are eligible to apply for this exam. However, Candidates who are pursuing their masters can still apply in the category of appearing.
Any relaxation provided to candidates in this exam?
Students belonging to OBC (Other Backward Classes), SC, ST, Persons with disability (PWD) Category who have secured at least 50% marks bare eligible to apply. Whereas, some relaxation in percentage of marks will be provided to candidates belonging to these categories.
